What does amigurumi means?
The word Amigurumi comes from Japanese. The Japanese call handicrafts knitted with crochet and needle as Ami. The Japanese call the toys that are filled with objects such as fibers or cotton as Nuigurumi. The word Amigurumi is derived as a combination of these two words.

I want to give you some informations about this pattern ;

Materials:

  • 2.5 mm (or US C) crochet hook.
    -100% cotton yarn (sport weight). You will need:
    cream for the pot, green for the stem, brown for
    the soil, pink for the main heart and red for the
    pot´s heart, or any colors of your choice!
  • A small portion of dark brown embroidery
    thread if you would like to add some letters or
    words to your little pot (optional).
  • Tapestry needle.
  • Fiberfill.
  • Stitch marker.
  • A pencil of about 14 cm long (5.5“)

Abbreviations:
sc = single crochet
inc = increase
dec = invisible decrease
ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
trc = triple (treble) crochet
BLO -…- = Back Loop Only
(#) = number of stitches per round

Crocheting Notes:

  • Should you use the suggested crochet hook
    (2.5 mm), your lovely pot final size will be
    about 15 cm (6”) If you use a different hook
    and yarn, final measures will vary.
  • Unless it is otherwise indicated, every round
    is crocheted in continuous rounds.
  • The Imigurumi is crocheted top-down.
  • To prevent little gaps between stitches in
    your Imigurumi, make sure to crochet the
    pieces tightly and to stuff them firmly (unless
    it is otherwise indicated).
  • Change the yarn’s color on the last step of
    the last stitch of the previous color.
  • Square bracket instructions must be repeated
    until the end of the round.

MAIN HEART

With pink color:

  • Part 1 –
  1. 5 sc in Magic Ring (5)
  2. 5 inc (10)
  3. { 1 sc, 1 inc } * repeat (15)
    Fasten off and weave in the yarn tail. This will form
    the first top part (circle) of the heart.
  • Part 2 –
    For the second top part of the heart, repeat rounds
    1 to 3, but DO NOT cut the yarn.
  1. Now, to join both parts, join them with a
    sc. Crochet 14 more sc along top part 1. Then,
    crochet 15 sc along top part 2. (30)
    You may place a stitch marker here to mark the new
    beginning of the following rounds.

5 – 8. 30 sc (30)

  1. 7 sc, dec, 13 sc, dec, 6 sc (28)
  2. { 5 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (24)
  3. { 4 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (20)
  4. { 3 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (16)
    Stuff while you progress until round 14
  5. { 2 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (12)
  6. { 1 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (8)
    Change to green color. Do NOT cut the yarn. Now
    we will continue with the stem.

STEM AND SOIL
Still with the green color:
(Do not stuff from round 15 to 28)

  1. – BLO 8 sc – (8)
    16-28. 8sc (8)
    Put the color or pencil into the steam and heart.

    Change to brown color:

    36 – 40. 36sc (36)
    Stuff while you progress (Notice that the pencil
    should be all the way down to the base of the soil)
  2. – BLO 36 sc – (36)
  3. { 4 sc, 1 dec } * repeat – (30)
  4. { 3 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (24)
  5. { 2 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (18)
  6. { 1 sc, 1 dec } * repeat (12)

    ⇢ Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Using your
    tapestry needle, weave the yarn tail through the
    front loop of the 6 remaining stitches and pull it
    tight to close off the head. Weave in the yarn end.

Using cream color:

  1. 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)
  2. 6 inc (12)
  3. { 1 sc, 1 inc } * repeat (18)
  4. { 2 sc, 1 inc } * repeat (24)
  5. { 3 sc, 1 inc } * repeat (30)
  6. { 4 sc, 1 inc } * repeat (36)
  7. BLO – 36 sc – (36)
    8 – 16. 36 sc (36)
    ⇢ Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Using your
    tapestry needle, weave the yarn tail through the
    front loop of the 6 remaining stitches and pull it
    tight to close off the head. Weave in the yarn end.

POT ‘s HANDLES (x 2)
Using cream color:

  1. Chain 8 ch stitches. In the second ch
    from your hook crochet 1 slst on each cad. (7)
    Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

HEART DECORATION
Using red color:
Work in Magic Ring: 3ch, 3 trc, 3 dc, 1 ch, 1 trc, 1 ch,
1 trc, 3 dc, 3 trc, 3 ch, 1 slst. Tighten the Magic Ring.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

Lovely Pot – ASSEMBLY
✓ Sew the pot´s handles to the sides of the pot.
✓ Sew the red little heart to the front of the pot.
✓ You can embroider a name or some letters like I ❤ U
✓ Put the soil into the pot.
✓ Weave in all yarn ends.
✓ And… DONE!
